THE RECONNECTOR PROJECT
: is an art project by Norwegian artist Jannik Abel. Imagine walking in the forest as the day breaks. Light is hitting only the lowest of land. Passing willows and pines. You know exactly what these trees look like on the inside. What they feel like. How oak is heavy, stringent and so incredibly solid. How pine is the smoothest and surprisingly flexible. That juniper smells and how alder binds the riverbank. The Reconnector project guides you into this world. Where you know natures as well as it knows you. This world is possible. : The Reconnector Project is the smallest possible wood factory . The factory consists of one amazing wild forest, a vintage axe collection, an artist studio, one heart, two strong arms and the most gentle hands. This place offers one of kind nature made hand shaped items made of wood, workshops in the forest and one day soon also a forest journal. Another part of this project is teaching children and adults how to use a knife and axe to shape wood Stats 2023: 1000 children has been whittled with Jannik 80 women and a handful of men. has learned to use an axe. : Abels famous words from a public speech is the foundation of this art project " There is no climate crisis. What we have is a human crisis. We need to reconnect to everything living and then and only then will we stop destroying our own habitat. " This project is just that : an attempt to move closer to what matters. : |

What: The smallest happiest wood factory in the forest where artist Jannik Abel creates one of a kind art objects. It is not a factory in the known sense of the word, it is a makers place that continuously creates art objects for you to hold. Abel chose the word factory to reimagine what production could be. The production takes place in an amazing artist studio built by an artist in the 1970`s. A cast of the builders hand is seen in the picture above. The production is as sustainable as it gets and the factory produce zero waste. |

How: Abel gathers wood from fallen trees and dries it for years in the studio before shaping and making. The trees used to make the objects, have fallen from storms, too much snow, rain or lightning. or other natural causes. All objects are nature made and shaped with tools like an axe, knife and chisel. Each object are shaped one by one by Abels hands. Then they are found by you and the reconnector object becomes part of your life, your home. Your discovery is what brings this project alive. |
